No, I have heard more on this and the report indicates that there are no felons, etc, being inducted into the military. There is a "soldier hatred" thing that some Dem public officials have been doing (John Kerry, Rep Dingell, etc) to degrade the support for the soldiers in the field by claiming that soldiers are the dregs of society and criminals, etc. There has been NO relaxation of standards though, like other jobs, people with misdemeanor arrests can get in to the military unless they are drug related. This is a carry over from the anti Vietnam era politicians who claimed that the soldiers who went to serve the country were only trash and the college kids, who were politically active for the Dem candidates were the darlings of America. In fact, neither was true and as it turns out I was both, a soldier and a college student. The Iraqi war is winding down and there is an exit plan in place so we are seeing a flurry of political misinformation being hurried upon us and this kind of dissing the troops is something that some politicians are doing to pander to some segment of the Dem Party. I am a lifelong Dem incidentally and have held local office twice on that ticket so I mention these things knowing that its my party that is doing it though clearly the National Dem Party has little connection to the state and local Dem committees (which is where the votes are by the way). The talk of restarting the draft is another Dem tactic, from some of the same people, as a political motivator assuming that all young people who are not in the military are cowards and would not serve. Thats interesting to me because it really denigrates the youth of America by saying that I can scare you into supporting me by putting out a rumor that will out you as a coward or cause young people to cling to them out of fear. We have an all volunteer Army and it is hard to create the kind of Vietnam era choas because the soldiers in now went there willingly. Politics is an ugly thing and the Dem Party is so messed up and has failed at so many levels that they DNC leadership will do virtually anything in a lust for a return to national power. Dissing the troops is just part of that strategy. It stinks.

NO, people with Felonies should not be allowed or "drafted" in instead of jail time. The US military is a volunteer force, and there is no need for criminals.
