This is why:
1 Corinthians 1:17-19
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written:
“ I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
Because of the hardness of people's hearts. The world is in darkness....but Jesus is the Light of the world. When you say yes to Him....the blindfolds will come off....and you will be able to see the truth of sin.
The gospel message is open to all....but all wont receive it because of their self-reliance and unbelief. I pray that God will show unbelievers the truth about Himself.
Your thoughts?

You said, "When you say yes to Him...the blindfolds will come off...and you will be able to see the truth of sin." The problem is, unbelievers have no reason to say yes to Him UNTIL they see the truth of sin. I'm afraid the church is at least partly to blame. We have compromised with the world on many issues, and can no longer offer the world the answers they seek. Don't get me wrong, there are answers, and they're in the Bible. But too many Christians don't know the answers themselves, and so can't share them with unbelievers. It's important to know not only what you believe, but WHY you believe it.
I recommend www.answersingenesis.org. They are doing a phenomenal job of giving the world the simple answers they are seeking.

You think a quote from a book written by a couple of tribal dudes some 2000 years ago is going to convince me?
And where do you come off calling my heart hard? You don't know the least thing about me.

What you quoted was written by men to have power over others.
The world is in darkness at this point because of greed - for power, for money, for fame. Embracing christianity won't cure that (look at our esteemed oh-so-christian leaders who practice greed on a daily bases yet claim to be "good" christians).

Why do you believe? Do you really think that feeling you get when you pray is god? or is it just relief that you create in your mind because you can let go of your guilt? You think you're forgiven for all the wrongs you've done but all you did was "doublethink" you earased the guilt in your mind and then earased the fact you earased the guilt, and then forgot about that. You feel good in church because you are surrounded by people who think like you, god's presence is just the euphoria of acceptance. Self reliant people do not need this, they understand we all make mistakes and can move on without the need for "doublethink."

One of the side-effects of human evolution was intelligence. However, intelligence does not necessarily equal knowledge, and acquiring knowledge takes time and practice.
Religions are like intellectual training-wheels that humans used while they learned to ride the science bicycle. After that, religion is no longer necessary. In fact, it is a hindrance that just slows you down and makes it difficult for you to go in the right direction.
Religious beliefs need to be discarded as soon as possible for the human brain to function properly.

There is no evidence that there is a god. It isn't rational or reasonable to believe in things without any evidence to back it up. You would be stuck with hundreds of thousands of gods and everything else that human imagination could come up with.
Not believing in god, is the same as not believing in Odin, Zeus, Ra, Hera, The Great Spirit, Osiris, The Flying Spaghetti Monster and all the others. I would be no less surprised of evidence of Odin was found than I would be if evidence of your god was.

And why are you telling us this? Do you think you are saving us by letting us know?
I don't think so. Atheists don't believe for all different reasons, most of which are very intelligent reasons. And you preaching will not change any minds.

Thats the story of Paul. He was blinded and God took the blinders off his eyes and he could see. I know when I first got saved I wanted everyone to see what I saw and could not wait to tell how Jesus saved me. Everything was clear for the first time in my life.
