You can, by claiming the child tax credit, and when IRS call you up and ask you for the $800 if you claim it, you can say that the baby was inside you for that duration of the month. It is allowable.

I did someone's return on that, and they told me to say that, and IRS allow it.

Use TaxWise software it allow you to take that claim. I dont think other Tax software give you that opportunity.

You can get more money back than you put if you are eligible for Earned Income tax credit ! Let me know how much you earned and I will be able to provide an estimate of your taxes.

Since your income is less contact a local VITA office for free tax preparation and e-filing. They are very nice. You check how to get more tax help here. http://findtaxservice.com/tax-help/how-to-get-tax-help.html

No, the child tax credit is not a refundable credit, so it is limited to the lesser of your tax liability or $1,000. If your tax liability is less than $1,000, it gets reduced to zero. If you qualify for the earned income credit, however, that is a refundable credit, so you can get more back than what you paid in.

Most people can't. And if they did, the government wouldn't have any money.

But people who get the Earned Income Tax Credit often get all their money back and then some.
