tgirl,
There can be lots of reasons for bad breath. Here are the ones that are on the tip of my tongue.
1. Bacteria under the gumline and between teeth. Floss your teeth, floss your teeth, floss your teeth!
2. Gunky buildup on your tongue. Be sure to brush here too. They also have scrapers that work well for some people.
3. Food you eat may also give you bad breath. Cheeses, garlic, onion, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbages, are frequent offenders.
4. There are some gastrointestinal disorders that can cause bad breath. You may need to see your family doctor. . . or when you are in for another reason, ask about the bad breath issue.
5. Unstable blood sugar can also cause a "sicky sweet" smell.
6. Sinus problems and excessive drainage can also give you gross smelling breath. One of my offspring has horrible breath if they get a cold.
Bad breath is not to be taken lightly. It can be a symptom of a much bigger problem. The main reason for finding the true cause is that way you can come up with a solution to effectively deal with the symptoms without just masking the problem temporarily.
Good luck!
