They saw Moses go up to the mountain (with fire and lightning), saw the manna each morning, but they were unsatisfied and grumbled even though God had revealed himself directly.
The only "whim" God I recall is the golden calf, but the teaching on that is represents our nature - evem though God had delivered them they weren't patient to reach the promised land but rebelled (an excues to party) and made and worshipped a golden calf while Moses was gone.
Sound familiar? They had a God who was worthy of trust , but being prone to wander in heart and impatient in God's timing, tchose to please themselves. Just like many of us.

The fact remains that 80-85% of the world believe in a spiritual diety or dieties and nothing much has changed in 6,000 years.

In the last 10 years believers in Science have had to change their views on Pluto is it or isn't it a planet. One day maybe they'll deside the Sun isn't a star, because it misses the root mean average critieria by 1%.

So why should we trust science.

Five days ago the college graduate, member of the meterological society on TV told us we'd wake up to 4" of snow and all we got that morning was sunshine.

Why should we trust science!

image that God is a guiding rigidity that provides the kinds and good judgment for the enormous Bang to apply. there is skill (the Bang) even though it pick actualities to objective at. A reason there is order somewhat of chaos. although that is a tender God who works through preferable and persuading, no longer capturing lightening bolts at everyone who displeases his royal highness (an theory borrowed from the Romans i imagine). So issues flow slowly, continually in the route of better and extra pleasant existence. after all, the universe is God's conciseness, the reality that provides him some thing to comprehend.
