If you put your dick in the micro-wave does it become a pork sausage? no. The man who has a ''sex change'' becomes a dickless man in a dress.

Mullies,
If a "man" has a sex change, he would become a transsexual (i.e. he would be a man in a woman's body).
If a transsexual undergoes a "sex change", yes the birth male will become a woman.
In the strictest semantic sense, gender is what changes, not sex since sex is partly a function of genetics which are not changed. However, the gender (social manifestation and phenotype of one's identity) is truely changed. Also, contrary to the bigots who have answered your question thus far, most countries recognise this legally now too.
Since we have no idea of a persons karyotype when we meet them (ie their chromosome compliment), the only important part of this concept for the purpose of social interaction is their gender (socially expressed phenotype). After all, androgen insensitive women (genetically XY) are not regarded as men, although genetically they are and neither can they have children. Similarly, girls with congential adrenal hyperplasia (CAH, genetically XX but phebnotypically male) are raised and treated as boys.

The aetiology of gender dysphoria is poorly researched and even less well understood but there is at least some evidence now that it does have a biological cause.

Simple conclusion: respect people you meet; WHOEVER they are. Treat them as they wish to be treated if you yourself wish to be treated in the manner of your own choosing. Re: relationships, men usually cannot tell the difference between a post-op transsexual or a genetic girl, so as long as she is honest and open about the fact that she cannot have babies with him; what does the detail of her past matter, it is academic.

Do not propogate bigotry. It's a big world, there is more than enough room for all of us to live our lives comfortably.

Not in the eyes of the law...

However thinking for myself, if I was attracted to a woman and things got to a point where she told me she used to be a man. it would have to be a judgement call at the time.
If someone looks, after surgery is biologically a woman, acts like and feels like a woman, then i guess she is a woman....
The answer to this can only be a personal judgement, mine would be yes.
Sad to say though that most men who have gone through sex changes look pretty much like men who have gone through sex changes.

Why not? If he thinks he's a woman, and feels like a woman inside, then even if he doesn't have an operation to change his outside, he/she still should be considered a woman.

It's biological. Some people are just born in the wrong body.

I don't know why it is so hard for many to accept that that is possible...

Sadly no. A woman is born to produce children and has a womb and ovaries. OK sometimes women can be born without them but that's rare. You can only MAKE a man look like a woman.

I'd like to add that those that go through this sort of operation deserve a lot of respect. Nature can be very cruel at times and screw up, and surgery is the only way to put some of it right.

Sex remains consistency where as Gender changes. Sex is the biological make up which can not change even when your Gender has changed which is your social interaction with others or the psychological make up.

To answer your question, it will not change....inside them they still have a mans hormones.

Physically, yes he/she will have all the characteristics of a woman. Genetically, no, they will still have XY chromosomes, marking them out as male. As far as I'm aware, the law will also still regard them as male. Morally, if thats what makes them happy, they're not hurting anyone so where's the harm?
