Well, isn't it actually NEAR Newcastle? Dont know why you seem so upset by that (besides the obvious local rivalry)!

i was on holiday and this girl asked where we were from,i said Fife,thinking she'd know where that was.she looked blank.i said the east coast of Scotland,the bit on the map that looks like a dog head.she still looked blank.i said near St Andrews,the home of golf.she said she had no idea what i was talking about.so i said near Edinburgh.she finally had heard of some place.
sorry,but she was English!
