Deep fried! Everything is delicious when it's deep fried! Of course I'm not sure how I would do that if I was marooned on a desert island...I don't usually carry that much oil and a frying pot.

I'd hate to have to resort to this, simply because I have pet rats and can't bear the thought of eating them; however, I think skinned, dressed, diced and cooked in a stew with native vegetables and whatever spices are available (hopefully some salt-NaCl would be available). I am picturing the scene in Lord of the Rings where Sam Gamgee finds a few native herbs and cook's Gollum's rabbits (close, isn't it? just remove the "bbi"). It wouldn't be gourmet, but it'd keep you together!

Very thoughtful question. It is a desert island, so I don't expect to get fire. So I will let it dry a few on the rocks to dry them for a couple of days. Until then I would eat raw meat.

roast it on a stick, unless you were marooned with a lot of cookware too. important thing is to properly skin and gut the animal first. and that implies actually capturing one
