First of all I'm glad you're interested, its a very worthy cause! They only take a minimum 8' to as much as you like. The hair needs to be very healthy, and preferably not chemically treated or just single process hair in good condition. I (stylist 10 + years)always remind my clients you have to measure from collar bone down or from the shortest you can stand say shoulders then measure and calculate how long it will take. So say you need to grow it 8' more with the average rate of growth being 1/2' that equates to 6' in a year minus 1' for a 1/4 inch trim every two months to keep it healthy it will take about a year in a half. I would inform your current hairdresser of your commitment and they will help keep you motivated to the cause, also if their like me they will gratis your donation cut for you and send it Locks of Love for you. I've never met anyone who's ever regretted doing this! I'm currently growing my hair back out again for my second donation.
Take care!

well if you want to donate your hair to an organization such as locks for love then you have to have hair that is atleast 10 inches (when cut) but some other organizations may require 6 inches or long but to be sure i'd cut my hair to be atleast 10 inches. it's better to be safe then sorry. if you still have to grow your hair a few more inches then trim the tips which will allow they dead ends to fall out and continue to grow!!!!!!

well i hope that helps, good luck

I prefer hair that is shoulder length or longer, As well as since that men who like females are more often then not directly, they like long hair because this looks more feminine, as most men have short hair.

To donate your hair it needs to be at least 6 inches to make a wig for someone. Check with your hairdresser as to who she can donate it to for you.

it depends on how short you want your hair to look after its cut. Usually, they want 10-12 inches. If your hair is curly though, you can straighten it to make it longer.
