why do i see a small bird in in the middle of the night when its very very cold out this cant be can it?

It is possible. Many birds witer over in cold areas. I often see bidrs at night or early in the morning just rooting around for bugs and whatever in the snow and ice

is it actually a bird or maybe you see something flying it could be a Bat or an owl.

Maybe it's a bat, if it's dark out, all you probably saw was something flying, with no real detail. I'd put my money on bat.

could be a night hawk.
