I currently weigh 275lbs on Sunday I weighed 287. I've been working out twice a day for 1 hour each (eliptical - moderate intensity) and then going for a 15 minute brisk walk in between. For breakfast I have a bowl of fruit, snack is usually applesauce or jello, lunch I have a big salad with either tuna or salmon and lots of vegetables, another afternoon snack of jello or applesauce and last dinner is normally brown rice w/ a lot of vegetables. I also drink 8 cups of water and take vitamins. I have hypertension so I know a lot of my intial weight loss was from losing water weight but 12lbs worth? I know people say its good to lose 1 - 3lbs a week but 12lbs in 3 days? is that okay if you're my size?

Thanks for all of the great advice. I do want to point out that I'm 25 years old and had been working out pretty consistently up until two months ago. My hypertension is kept in check with medication. I also do not feel tired I feel the exact opposite throughout the day. Except for yesterday when I was up late the night before trying to catch up on school work.

since most of it is prob water weight then it should be ok for now. however, keep tabs on how much u are losing each week and if it still that much in 3-4 weeks u might wanna back off a bit. also, pay attention to how ur body feels. if u feel sick and tired all the time then try upping ur meals during the day and doing a lesser meal at night. that way ur blood sugar is higher through out the day and u dont eat so many carbs at night

i think it is ok...like you said much of it was water weight. as long as you are drinking your 8 glasses of water and eating sensibly (it looks like you are) then it sounds ok due to your size. After this initial large weight loss it will probably balance out to the 2 or 3 pounds a week. I give you sooo much credit...dieting and exercising is a very difficult thing to do. May I also suggest the weight watchers plan (it works for me). Also the website www.hungrygirl.com offers many great recipies for those of us trying to lose weight. Keep an eye on your hypertension though. Don't overdo it. Keep up the good work.

Yeah for the most part, the people on the biggest loser do it all the time. To be honest, I am pretty small and wanted to lose a couple pounds. When I started eating only 1200 calories per day I lost 6 pounds in two days which people would deem unsafe normally, but I lose easily and maybe you do too! If you feel dizzy or sick, then definitely not...BUT if you feel good then it is just fine. If you continue to lose weight this rapidly then you may want to see if you are ingesting enough calorically. You don't want to slow your metabolism and then put the weight back on later.

When you are first starting a weight loss program (especially if you have changed the way you eat) it is not uncommon to see a larger weight loss for the first week or two. Most likely, it is water weight--especially if you were not drinking as much water before you started your program. (and your hypertension, too..)

You sound like you are eating pretty healthy--did a Dr recommend this program for you? It is always recommended to consult a Dr before starting any weight loss program to ensure your goals & amount of weight lost is reasonable & healthy. He will also be able to advise on your activity/exercise level. Please be careful not to hurt yourself if you were not active before you started this program--hurting yourself can be very discouraging at this point.

About 2 lbs a wk is normal, safe weight loss. If you need a "support" group or additional help, try Weight Watchers. No, really--I have tried dozens of ways to lose weight in the past, and WW is the most "sane" method--you can eat most anything you want, you just have to control your portions, and moderate exercise is recomended to help the process.

Good luck w/your weight loss--I know it's exciting to see it come off so quickly at first, just don't get discouraged when it slows down--keep at it & you will be much heathier & happier! :)

I would think that it's just your initial weight loss. Or the clothing you were wearing. That all factors in when you are weighing yourself. Try to weight yourself in the same clothing at the same time of day each so that you can have a more accurate reading when you take your weight.

The amount of weight you lose a week should decrease as you stay on your diet. It sounds like you are doing a great program and I am happy to see that you are working out, so many people forget that when they are trying to lose weight.

If it seems like you are losinf too much weight, cut back on the intensity of your workouts. Try to balance how many calories are going in and coming out, and that might stabilize your weight loss.

That is a lot of weight to lose in 3 days, i would talk to a personal trainer. But thats Great that you are losing the weight! I'm starting my winter diet too, I eat fruit in the moring & salad for lunch & med dinner - Then Its off to the gym ~ Eliptical for 30 mins then crunches & situps & weights. I do drink alot of water & i also take vitamins & i have never lost that much weight in 3 days. I'm happy for you but really talk to a personal trainer just to make sure its safe. Plus you don't want it to come off that fast, STRECH MARKS... so becareful :) - But good luck with everything

Generally, the more weight you have to lose the quicker it will come off initially. Keep doing what you are doing, and you will continue to lose weight but it will slow down to a more normal rate--1 or 2 pounds per week.

Just make sure you are getting enough calories. If you don't your metabolism will actually slow down and make it really hard to lose. I couldn't calculate your calorie needs for you since I don't know your height and age, but you can calculate it using this link:

Good luck, you're doing great :)

Curves

Real women have the nerve real women aren’t concerned real women have curves, real women aren’t concerned with the papers or the media and their style of dress about who’s worst or who’s best, real women aren’t concerned with men and their roving eyes that tend to unnerve and undress without hardly a word or a jest, because real women have the nerve real women aren’t concerned because real women have curves.

Real women aren’t concerned with the length of their hair be it platinum or blond be it rooted or from Hong Kong and real women aren’t concerned with their shade of skin be it sandy or bronze be it dark or fair, because real women have the nerve real women aren’t concerned because real women have curves.

Real women aren’t concerned with the piercing eyes of their pears with all their boos and their gears with all their insignificant fears because real women have the nerve real women aren’t concerned because real women have curves.
