Lucifer son of the morning. His downfall was wanting to rule, and control God, he and his minions were cast out of heaven, but remeber God did not remove his power, so he still had his power, but power of darkness. Look how far the distance is between heaven and earth, he resides in the heatrs of some men, he is a cunning man, and can get to you through what you desire most.

His former name is never revealed in the bible. His fallen name is Lucifer. He fell because of his selfishness and pride. He wanted to rule the earth. When he left Heaven, he took 1/3 of the angels with him and they of course became demons. He is the prince of darkness because of who he is. He is the opposite of light, which is Jesus. As far as being the ruler of this planet, that is not true either. Depends on who you are. I believe this is on an individual basis. Sadly, on this planet, more people chose the darkness instead of the light and that's why it seems like he rules. In my life, Jesus rules, nobody else and Satan has no power over Him.

What a confusion!!!
'Satan' has NEVER been a name. Satan is a noun , it means ' adversary'. King David too in the Bible is referred to as 'a satan'= an adversary; According to the Sumerians, Lord Enki was referred to as Satan because he was adversing his step-brother Enlil; Enlil, in facts (who then became the Biblical God) was committed to destroy Mankind, and Enki, instead, who allegedly created it, always tried to save Mankind, opposing his step-brother's initiatives.
Therefore, 'Satan' has NEVER been the Prince of Darkness. That's a silly characterization made up by the Church and by the followers of the so-called Biblical God, who , in real terms, was not one, but two different individuals instead who have never been neither immortal nor omnipotent;)
In case you're wondering: Satan is not the Devil, as the Devil is just another Christian invention;) and Lucifer ( The LÄ°ght Bearer) was just one of the so-called 200 fallen angels (The ones Sumerians call Annunaki) who had simply upset their chief (the Biblical God=Enlil), mating with Earthling females and sharing their knowledge with Mankind;)

Lucifer was one of the most beautiful angels God had created. When God the Father revealed His plan to redeem humanity, after Adam and Eve's fall from grace, through the suffering and death of Jesus His Son. Lucifer became angry he didn't feel humanity was worth all that time and trouble. He questioned and argued and ended up getting other angels on his side. Michael and the other angels that were in agreement with God's plan fought a war in the heavens. Lucifer no longer wanted to be with God, so God sent him to his own private area called hell and he was renamed Satan.The other angels of his force went there too but they were furious that mankind could still be redeemed, so they go out into the world making people believe they don't exist, that bad is good, that prayer to God is fruitless.
God is allowing Lucifer to have his way for a time, because He did give man free will and feels that humanity would remember the promise and the dignity He gave them and be able to rise above the petty lies of Lucifer.
In all its a test of the Truth, it is what we all seek.

Satan was an archangel ( high ranking) and was a Cherub ange (type). He Was very beautiful.
He was a guardian of the Garden of Eden (most do not know this-it's in the old test) before he sinned.
He was "puffed up" by his beauty according to OT. He tempted Eve and this was the reason God booted him out of heaven.
12 How you have fallen from heaven,
O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth,
you who once laid low the nations!
13 You said in your heart,
"I will ascend to heaven;
I will raise my throne
above the stars of God;
I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,
on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. [a]
14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;
I will make myself like the Most High."
His names are:
The accuser
The morning star, Devil, Lucifer, Adversary, Beelzebub, Dragon, Old serpent, Prince of this world, And last but not least Marilyn Manson.

Satan's original name is Lucifer and he was originally the most beautiful and talented of the Arch Angels. His sin was that of wanting to become God. And as a result he was banished from Heaven and made to live on the earth in the form of a spirit

Satan means adversary. He was the "covering Cherub" (Ex 28:14-16) Some say his name was "Lucifer". It might have been, though that is Greek, and surely he didn't have a Greek name. His heart was lifted up, and filled with pride. He wanted to be worshiped. For his insubordination, he was cast to earth, where he deceived the humans, and led them to worship him.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan is the devil and his name was Lucifer. He thought himself to be equal to God and wanted to take over heaven, so he and a third on the angels that he influenced were cast down to the earth.
