Hey Pollyanna,

There are some, yes. LDS Family Search is one of the best. The PeopleFinders Web site is really great for living, or deceased and has all kinds of records. Then FreeBMD is sort of hit or miss. SSA will help if you have a relation in the US.

If you are just beginning a family tree, then Family Search is a great place to start. If you have a software package, great, if not you should try to find the $30.00 to buy one. They come with FREE access for a few months to Ancestry trees, which can fill your tree's branches with starter information. There are some software sites below also.

Ancestry.ca is a great place to start. Your can do a free search of b/m/d.

Your search will give you this and if you want more info then you have to pay. But this is a great place to start.

1851 Census of Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia
Census

Birth: abt 1837 - location
Residence: 1852 - township, Prescott County, Canada West (Ontario)

Let me know if I can help.

ancestry.co.uk or com, wherever you are. Have birth, death and marriage certificate info. Not everyone is on there though as I discovered. Apparantly my mother doesn't exist!

Also, you need to know a bit of the info yourself already. I gave up in the end coz it was just too much hassle but good luck!
