use moist heat on the lower back...on for 10 min...off for 10 min. if it is upper back or neck use ice, especially if you have a headache...then again it is 10 min on...and 10 off. try that for an hour each time you can leave it on longer if it feels better but the muscle once is heated up will heal/or not be as sore. however you need to let it cool and reheat for it to allow blood flow and healing. good luck =)

I also have back probllems and depending on what is the cause the treatment is different. If I strain a muscle I feel that heat works best. Preferably moist heat. If it's a disc acting up again ice packs give me the best relief. If you continue to have pain see a doctor.

If your pain is persistent and for more than 15 days then you must see your physician. If it is only 4/5 days old then try BELLADONNA PLASTER available over the pharmacy counter. Follow the instruction written over the pack. As a combination you may take Ibuprofen gelcap.

Yes it would. Try soaking yourself in a warm bath. This could be because of muscle fatigue or dehydration. Try exercising all parts of your body. It also sometimes is due to disuse atrophy. Consult a doctor if it persists. You can also look for information in the web. I found this website very useful. http://aches.in/cramps.html

I use a heating pad and Ibuprofen, as I get older my back hurts more and more. Never hurt when I was 18, now at 44 if I shop for a few hours it gets to me.

Try both and use whatever helps the most.

You say the pain won't go away, so you should see your Doctor.
