I'm 21. Three years ago I met this guy. We hit it off instantly, sharing similar interests and style of humor. A few months down the track he suggested 'us' as a couple. Afraid it would ruin our friendship, I gently said no. Plus I didn't think either of us were mature enough at the time. He seemed too serious, too early. Things were a little awkward for awhile, but we are good friends again now.

Must admit sometimes I have feelings for him (although it could just be loneliness... i've always been single), and other times I'm pretty sure that he should stay in the friend category. Many people have assumed we're going out (just because we hang out) and are usually surprised to find out that we're not. Some people think we're perfectly suited for each other. But I'm confused. He seems more like a friend or a brother to me - I like hanging with him but I'm afraid it wouldn't work if things were to get serious.

I'm interested to hear stories from ppl who've been in a similar situation..

you know... i think i just might be falling for him... (or i could just be in love with the idea of being in love). I feel like i'm about to throw up a basketful of butterflies. I can't wait to see him and hang out again. My mum will tease me for sure (coz in the past i've been quite verbally cynical about love and relationships, trying to fit into the 'tough independent young woman' picture, always wanting to keep options open). But yeah, thanks for the responses so far. :)

Well My current BF started the same way you have. We were friends for 3 yrs before we decided to take it to the next level. I too had the same concern of it spoiling the friendship. However, that friendship prove to be a solid foundation. At first i worried that we would have 0 chemistry, but in the romantic department we really hit it off!! I have had no regrets ( i mean we have had problems like everyone else, but we have gotten thru.) We are getting married in December. So good Luck.

i saw absolutely take it a step further!! it sounds like you could make it into a good relationship by being so close. If you like him, try it. why not? test the water. IM a guy, im 23, maybe he doesnt know you like him. see what he does, reactions.... I was like that with a good friend of mine. I always assumed she didnt feel the same way, but 2 years later, I recently found out she had a crush on me and as did I. But we never said anything!! Im still single too :( just try it out, test the waters, it sure not going to hurt! let me know how it goes!
