recently my friend encountered with an accident that resulted in some seriously deep cuts( stitches needed ) and bruises throughout the upper part of the body including the face. Will our sincere apologies to the victim family be enough? as we believe that we are partly guilty as to the accident or should we compensate them with a sum of money among those involved? or both? thx

Of course you should apologize, genuinely and from your heart.

If you believe you are even partly to blame, you should offer to pay for any costs involved in treating your friend. It is the very least you can do.

I would consult a lawyer in this. Even though he is a friend, it was an accident, you are partly to blame. He could sue you and it might be best to get the upper hand in the matter. Unfortunately this is the way the world works now a days. Hope it all turns out well and you can remain friends.

A good place to start would be most certainly an apology. Please also offer to help pay the medical bills. You said you were partly responsible, do own up to it now when it matters. A true friend will not ask for more money than what is needed to recover.

You had better get legal advise before admitting to anything as the person in the accident sounds serious and could have health problems later and proceed with legal action against you especially if this is a car accident.

A difficult situation. Fairness would seem to favor a partial payment. However, if you do, and later the "victim" claims further damage, then you have largely plead "guilty". It is difficult to do the righteous thing in this sinful world!

Both. Listen to what the other party had to say first. If they are willing to settle out of court, or they are not pressing charges, then good for you.

However, also send them a message that you are willing to help and assist them.

Good luck.

depends on the seriusness of the injury and how deep of ur friendship is.

the injuries may need further treatment in the later years...the face maybe....

If you can afford it, yes, do give them some money compensation if they are not that well off. It will certainly help them.
