of course.. even now in this all knowing society.
i, for one, was so glad that several times i talked to my parents about sex and i felt that they had a positive attitude towards it. and that made us even closer, even though i could have found some information on the internet or one some brochures, i felt great and appreciated my parents for the courage of talking to me..

hi,
yes they are, if the parents leave it up to someone else than they may get the wrong information. and that would be a big problem for both the child and the parents, and why should a parent rely on someone else to tell there children what they should have the courage to tell. it should be done with some kind of integrity not just blurted out. and yes some parents have a problem with talking to there kids about this but they shouldn't, just ask the question in a careful way so that the parent knows that you really mean business. and hope fer the best.

Sex education is the responsibility of the parents and if more parents were taking that responsibility seriously, we'd have a better crop of kids growing up before they start promiscuous sex with multiple partners. The school can't fill the void with their pitiful little sex ed classes and we're reaping a bitter crop of kids having kids, diseases, abortions, no morals and failing relationships.

Parents are responsible for everything they want their children to know. We have some great teachers in this country and some not so great ones. If there is something important you want your kids to know about (like sex education) it is in your best interest to take the initiative to give them your knowledge.

yes they are. i have a 18 yr old sis in law who doesnt know anything. she is constantly calling me up asking me if she is preg or if she has an std. she really should have been educated by her mom and if the parent is too embarrassed to do it or uncomfortable they should definetly seek help in doing so. the doctors, church member almost anybody now a days will help. i feel so sorry for this girl because what she thinks she knows is not true at all. it really leaves these kids so vulnerable to all the bad things out there. somebody should step up 2 the plate and take control...

Yes it is the parent's responsibility but unfortunately too many parents are too embarrassed to talk about sex with their children and the children end up listening to their friends who don't know any better themselves. These children end up getting pregnant/getting someone pregnant or STD's and their parents get angry and/or kick them out or shun them, blaming the children when they should be blaming themselves.

Absolutely, otherwise we go through it blindfolded relying on friend's advice- how correctly informed could a child be to guide another. You end up making mistakes you could avoid if you knew how things are. I believed a guy when he said I couldn't get pregnant if he was on top of me! How could I know any better? Being informed is the best weapon to make informed decisions. Otherwise you're risking pregnancy, std's. I also think that I have felt sex is dirty and I've been uncomfortable about it because that's the impression I got at home since no one talked about it.

Yes! and i tell u why. because if the school doesnt do a good job or if ur kid is absent the day they cover that - and your kid winds up wit an STD or a teen pregnacy. no one from the school is going to apoglize, they are gonna say that YOU shoulda covered that with them. cover your butt, take it into your own hands, let the one at school be the review for them. that way you know that you took care of business. also they cant discuss things that u can, like waiting til marriage becuase of religion or other things that parents want to tell theri children.

They are the first ones and the best. But more than often they do not. The result- kids learn the wrong thing from the society.
The next best are the religious teachers if they are trust worthy.
A good friend is next if s/he really care.
There are many out there to misuse you.

Umm - Yes
The schools will cover it but since you wont be there you wont know for sure what the school covered and what they left out. You also need to be available for your child to ask you questions. The school will most likely just cover general topics, if you have a specific religous belief or your religon has specific sexual practices the school is not going to cover that.
