I have suffered from OCD for many years. It is not something to be ashamed of. AWARENESS is the key, to moving forward and helping yourself to understand the disorder. You need to see a therapist, they will diagnose the severity of your OCD. IF you need medication, take it! There is no reason to suffer, when you can achieve a better life with the aid of medication. Would you take medication for a physical illness?, like chronic asthma? of course you would. Taking medication for a disorder is NOT different. Don't suffer unnecessarily because of pride.Let your mom know how you feel, and let her help you. To have support from loved ones can be very helpful, You need to address your OCD now, or you could get worse. Please get the help you need???

I'm sure that your mum would be hurt if you didn't tell her. Besides, someone like her should know in case something happens to you. It would be hard for her to wonder why/what happened. I can't imagine why you won't tell your mum. She may know of some family history along those lines that could help you. Most mothers want to help their children all of the time.
There are a lot of people that have OCD and there is help out there for you, but you have to let someone know. It will make you feel better to tell a family member or a doctor. It will take a load from you mind also. You shouldn't feel bad about this. You certain couldn't help it. You need help.

OCD is not something you get under control, honey. I have OCD, although it is mild, some days I'm worse, and cannot get anything constructive done. Find a clinic, or talk to a crisis center. You can type in to any search engine for mental health crisis, or something similar, and get an answer. Continuous counseling will help, because sometimes, there are events that trigger the compulsions. Counseling can help you note these events, and try to avoid them.

If people earn your trust, your respect, and you care about them, then yes. An understanding of your disorder will allow them to have a healthy relationship with you.
It can get very confusing for one, who doesn't understand OCD to explain some of the behavior, and even at times take it personally -- when it is not.
You are blessed to be aware of the disorder at this age, because it gives you an opportunity to take action, and seek treatment, so that your life is less difficult, and more productive. There are OCD specialist, who are very capable of helping you, medication and groups.
Always remember, denial is your worst enemy.

Tell your parents, and your psychiatrist - OCD never gets cured you have to keep taking the medicines or you will go through bad times - and they are not your fault - you are not a bad person. I never used to be able to sit in a waiting room without knowing EXACTLY where the tile person had made mistakes and got the pattern wrong; on my medicine its controllable. Do not be afraid this is just like having asthma, you can live a fully normal life if you control it.

hi im edwardo and the best and only way to break your ocd is to use it. like so. i had intrusive thoughts and than i had social phobia and an aphobia of aids that all went away by something called endorphins. excercise i started counting with the numbers i used in my head to an excercise rythm and i do excercises with the items that involved like step counting there is a million and one excercises you can find on the internet that uses steps like the Victorias Secret Leg Workout. Than while cleaning because i contstanly cleaned i would do sqauts whith water which is like weights without the image of Arnold Schawaszanigger in your head and i would sweat and i would jumprope for 20 minutes counting every second which made me stop cause i was getting tired but the endorphins helped it literally went away and when days my cousin became aphobic he wouldnt like to sweat we went to the pool on satudays cause it cleaned that morning and we would do a hundred laps tiring our selves out giving oursevles what we needed that kick and help. and also you may wanna look in your diet sodas and high sugary foods impact the ocd harder what it does it builds compulstaions in your brain because the energy from the sugar isnt being used the correct way.

I would tell my mom because she probaly is already concerned that something is amiss.
She would be your best advocate in seeking treatment but, staying youself.
You can also go to your local mental health office with out informing her and be protected under confidentiality.
Some times they treat with meds and sometimes not. see what they have to say beforeyou get defensive.
