If you meant what is A soul - its an ancient fictional notion involving intangible substances to explain why we have emotion, thought and life. Since they've all been explained since and we've never found any trace of mysterious energies it takes a large amount of wilful ignorance to believe in souls in this day and age.

This is from Gita where Krishna is telling Arjuna that He (that is Krishna) is atma (soul) , situated in all entities. He also says that he is the taste of water, seed of all, the sound Om, etc...etc...This is the spiritual definition. Iam ignorant of the modern age definition of soul.
