I've just given up caffeine and I feel great. I'm thinking it must be REALLY bad for you, what do you think?

Yes. Caffeine is a diuretic, which means that it dehydrates you leaving you more fatigued and causes bloating. It also causes dry skin, and raises your heartbeat - terrible for your nervous system!

well no it's not bad for you at all
i was reading in a leaflet from my dr's surgery
the it is actualy ok to drink
you can have up to 5 cups of coffee or 7 tea a day with out any problems
when it does go on the bad side is when you really drink 80 cups a day lol
well i don't think any one can manage that will they?

caffeine is also used in medication
like tablets for pain for instance

hope this helps

caffeine is a strong stimulant often used in conjunction with pain relief and de-congestive as it speeds up their reaction with your system. So whilst often beneficial, can cause side effects like being unable to sleep, slight paranoia, it also weighs down the particles of calcium within the nervous system causing temporary heightened reaction speeds. As with all drugs in moderation useful and reasonably harmless, in excess/ abuse not great for you. Long live strong real coffee

I used to drink about 8 cups of coffe a day and used to feel like crap all the time. Now I only drink 1 cup in the morning and feel 10 times better.

we have these days become obsessed with health and fitness and image etc. etc.

there is a lot of information that we are bombarded with daily, some conflicting but often in agreement just overwhelming

while I think it is important to stay informed I feel also that we cannot live our lives by constantly watching our every move including where food comes in

the age old adage uttered by grandmothers and grandfathers all over the world I think makes the most sense

'everything in moderation and a little of what you like'

People vary a great deal in their sensitivity to caffeine. Cut back if you experience unpleasant side effects.

I just wrote more about this here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aqc6rQS4vFfAuH0iQmesG7Tsy6IX?qid=20070205001948AA2Psaq&show=7#profile-info-fxIvXu3raa

depends how much of it you had in a day. Some people like a little tea now and then and that is ok. If you go overboard on coffee, that can't be good.

eventually if you drink enough every day then your brain will be dependent on the caffeine
