Yes it is a dis-respctful act, because of many reasons.

Simply you will get mentally ill and loose self confidence. Your intentions will be surrounded by ill thoughts.

Human body has a value and should not resemble animal behaviour.

Control on sexual urge in right direction as prescribed, is the first step towards understanding of our ownself then reality.

Actually it is Haram...but it has its cases as well..
when a person in the state of extreme arousal and there's a chance that he might get into Zina then masturbation is okay..
but still you should try your best to divert your attention to things that help arouse you...
the Prophet toldt those who can't marry to fast..for it will keep them safe and away from zina and such..

i think it is haram .
i believe that men have to marry if they had the ability so there would be no need for the masturbation .
if you used to do so you'll have many problems after marring .

As a non-religious.....its about human nautre and a need to release.......go with the flow but not in excesses....

and if I am religious....i will still be human and go with the flow......but not in excesses..........
