Say:

"Hark this, noble keeper of the passageway. Thee will be saddened in thine heart to hear the news I bring ye. The portal to thine soul does ooze with the gas of the underworld, and the stentch therein polutes thy nose beyond that which pain may allow. Hastily I ask thee to rid the curse of thine stentch. The witches profess a potion of great power that is known to the wise as Listerine. Seek out this potion forthwith, and cure the ail that pains ye so!"

Make a joke of it as a passing comment one day as if it's no big deal. "Blimey mate, what have you been eating stinky"

If that doesn't work then say something further a few days later like "Seriosly mate, have you had blue cheese for breakfast or what?" May sound stupid, but making light of the situation and not making it a big deal is probably the lesser embarrasing thing for this fella.

If all else fails... Bad breath gradually disappears on its own, with the aid of chewing gum. So keep offering him some!

I wouldn't mention the teeth at all. I'm sure he has a mirror and knows. It's sort of like a zit on your nose. Yes, I know, there's no need to mention it to me every second. It would certainly embarass this gentleman if you pointed out his bad teeth. Why would you do that?

But whenever someone has bad breath, I take some mints out of my purse, pop one into my mouth and say to the person next to me, want one? Almost always works!

You have 7 weeks to go..be nice! Carry lots of gum and breath mints with you..offer them! Start a conversation about the dentist, something like "I have to make an appointment with...I have to go to the dentist..."...maybe he'll start talking about his "bad teeth", He may be well aware of his problem but not have the money to have it fixed. Bringing it up may cause some bad feelings between you and him, especially if your just casual acquaintances.

You can tell him in 2 ways
1) mate, you need to clean out your guts because your making my face turn green.
2) mate don't take this the wrong way but I've been noticing that your breath is always bad. Have you thought to take something.
I had to say something, its better it came from me. Maybe you should go and see your GP.
I would go with 2.

Say honey if I tell you this will it hurt your feelings and he says tell me what and you say not to be mean or anything but your breath stinks and I think you should go to the dentist and fix your teeth so you can look so much hotter I am not trying to be mean ok and I still like you.

He may have a problem that he doesn't know about, I would say that sometimes I notice his breath is not very fresh and perhaps he should see his dentist to check whether he has a problem. If someone said that to me I would be very embarrased but I'd rather know.

A mate's wife is pregnant with their second. Before and this time, she is very sensitive to odours. It is possible that his breath seems more intense at this stage.
Having said that, I think I would opt for the kindly note with mouthwash, toothbrush, and toothpaste.
That odour may be due to gum disease. I want to chuck up myself thinking about it.
