In order to fly into a major airport like JFK you need money and special ratings. The landing fees are higher at busy and international airports and most require that you are instrument rated and current.
I don't think a large international airport would be so happy to have a private plane come in due to the spacing between aircraft and the slow speed of a private aircraft compared to that of a jumbo jet.

Guess I should have read it better.. I saw "Why do" not where do.

Try Teterboro (KTEB) Just across the harbor

you do no longer might desire to declare an emergency to land at JFK. i've got seen a Piper Malibu, a Beech Baron, and a Cessna 182 there. often it replaced into the non-public pilot dropping off or choosing up a pal or a relatives member. I even have been given a holiday in 2003 on a Bell 206 in and out JFK's commonplace Aviation Terminal on an aerial photos flight.

Try Teteboro or Morristown NJ. When flying into the NY area those are the 2 airports we use. Morristown is the easier of the 2.
Trust me. I am a corporate pilot.
