I want to bleach my hair myself, it's naturally really dark, almost black, everytime I bleach my hair it turns orange, even at the salon, should I bleach it twice? I want to get it light blonde, can you suggest anything?

if your hair is naturally dark you will always go through that orange stage. only get it done at the salon if you want the best results. they can safely get it to at least light blonde but not to a pale blonde. theres this bleach that redken has called up to 7 witch lifts hair up to 7 levels so i think you should go to a salon that has that.

If you must do it yourself then get a kind that says it will lighten your hair the most like one from redkin, but you may have to lighten your hair then do it again in 2 days. The 2 days is for white persons hair to produce the natural oils. If you are not white you may need to add oils. Your hair is so dark that as you lighten it it will always go thru that color stage. Hope this helps.

never bleach it twice it will kill your hair you need to get a toner of really light blonde hair and one that has violet in it or blue so that way it makes the yellow orange color go away, go to a beauty supply store like sally's and ask them about it they will know what to do. Good Luck!

this may sound crazy but it worked for me. bleach your hair in the summer then if it turns orange put lemon juice in it and sit in the sun for like an hour. do this untill you get the color you want. then like super condition it after so its not so dry.i did the same thing and everyone told me to try toners and ash blondes and everything but nothing worked except the lemon juice.

If you're going to buy something yourself at the store, then purchase 2 boxes of something light WITH AN "ASH" COLOR to it.
The "ash" will keep all of the brassiness out of your hair. You may need to do it twice. Not back to back. Maybe a day or two apart.
Good luck

Make sure that your hair has no other colour left in it as you are very dark. Thats what the hairdresser told me.
