My life may be going down the drain.?

Question

College started in January. I've been once. I'm addicted to pain killers to help me go to sleep. And I blow through money like (sorry to use the old expression) like it blows on trees. My parents support me. I have an apartment and a new car and everything I want. I just got off hard core drugs for good, I dont drink. But I need motivation for going to college. Someone help me change, someone motivate me, please..... I'm a great kid. I just took the wrong path in highschool. If I applied myself, i'd do wonders..

you've given up drugs and it sounds like you are turning your life around. keep your spirits up and study hard. it may be a struggle but believe in yourself.

First off, you gotta put drugs 100% behind you (which can be hard). If you just quit, you may be sailing on smooth waters for a while but it may get rough again... so you may want to get into a support group for that. I don't know you as a person so maybe you really can quit that easily, which is good. Other people have some troubles giving up that easily.

As for college... make sure it's what you really want to do. Take the courses you want, not the courses you think other people want you to take.

Set some goals.... like going to class and getting good grades. It helps a lot to focus on just one thing than it does to worry about everything, especially some stuff you can't control.

And... well it's helped me a lot, but music does wonders for motivation and basically adjusting your mood. If you want something really uplifting I'd recommend someone like Oingo Boingo or Amada, they write good songs and sometimes something simple like that will help ease your mind.

Hey if you've already given up drugs why are you not motivated ? If I had just got my life back I would want to do everything ! Your in such a lucky possition, many people never find it in theirselves to quit drugs. Make the most of your second chance at life and do whatever you've always wanted to do. Find great mates, do a sport you love or even travel the world ! No-one can motivate you, only you can do that. You can do anything with your life and you say you could do wonders - so why aren't you ?! Go and do something really worth while, help people that are still addicted to drugs. I'm planning to be a maths teacher in Africa to help kids ! Find something you love and love your self ! Good luck with whatever you do. It's your life do with it what you will :D !

Try to forget about the pain killers. Simply press your fingertips every night to lull you to sleep. That is acupressure. Also, when you lie down, pray for GOD's protection and guidance with open heart. I am sure, HE WILL HEAR YOUR PRAYERS.
You are very lucky to have everything you want. Be thankful for that. Show to your parents that you can repay their kindness with so much love and care. I am sure they will be very proud of YOU. Study hard. If you could not understand your lessons, try to approach your professors. Anyway, they are being paid for that. They are there to teach you, right? One thing more, try to go to the library after your class. Do not go home at once. Stay in the library and do your homeworks so that when the following session comes, you're fully armed to tackle the subject matter for the day.

There is a psychology term called "internal locus of control" it basically means that you are capable of motivating yourself. You must learn to if you ever want to get far. Though people can offer you advice, it really won't make a difference if you cannot self-motivate yourself in the end.

You took a few wrong paths in life, trial and error, you've seen what it can do. There's your motivation, stay away from drugs and make a huge difference to your life.

Hey I understand exactly what your going through... with the exception of the drug thing... but really i think all it is is finding where you eventually want to be in life, figuring out what it takes to get there, and then doing those things... Also your school should have a counseling program speak with someone, they can help you with things like stress management. Get involved and surround yourself with focused people... I find prayer helps me, but i'm finding more and more people don't believe in God... sad story but hey I do, and When i don't know where i am where i'm going or how i got there, I turn to God for direction...

You say you have gotten off hard core drugs,but hon, pain killers are'nt excatly soft core. I was addicted to pain pills for years. They have an effect on you when you are'nt taking any.DEPRESSION! I was so depressed if I did'nt have ant pills. And I garuntee that is where all your motavation is going.Whan you are depressed who the hell wants to deal with college. You have to come off the pills hon. And talk to a professional about your depression. You will be in my prayers hon.
