Don't worry. You don't have to give away your cats!! You can live with a cat and cat allergy if you are willing to invest a little time, effort and money. First, the thing that causes the allergic reaction is the Fel d1 protein that is found in the saliva and urine of all felines. Don't let anyone tell you that there are hypoallergenic cats. All cats produce this protein. To stop your allergic reaction, you need to denature (neutralize) that protein before you inhale it. Make sure to keep the cat groomed. Wipe it down weekly with Allerpet/C for cats. When you need to wash the cat, wash with a denaturing shampoo such as Pet Plus shampoo. Keep the cat off the bed and out of your bedroom in general. Once a month, spray down all the fiber surfaces in the house (such as carpets, rugs, furniture, drapes, etc) with a denaturing agent. Don't let the cat rub against your face and make sure to wash your hands every time you pet it. I'll give you some links to articles to read and some websites to visit. The Allerpet stuff is made by one company and the other stuff I mentioned is made by another company. You can get any of it at an allergy control store. There is no miracle pill, although Claritin helps to calm a fit. You just have to treat the cat and you should be fine. It's nicer than risking the chance of the cat being put to sleep if it isn't re-homed.

you could be allergic to the drug. is this the first time you've taken it? there is a test called the scratch test wherein the doc specifically an allergologist doctor will scratch several things on the skin and it will determine food, medication and all allergies. it really helps for allergic persons. then he will give a maintainance medication that to take in case any allergic reaction will arise. :-) allergies could be dangerous but they are very manageable once you know what you are allergic too. :-) God bless you. you should get this test. it's usually available on with an allergologist doctor and in some hospitals too.

Gabapentin's most common side effects in adult patients include dizziness, drowsiness, and peripheral edema (swelling of extremities). Children 3–12 years of age were also observed to be susceptible to mild-to-moderate mood swings, hostility, concentration problems, and hyperactivity. An increase in formation of adenocarcinomas was observed in rats during preclinical trials, however the clinical significance of these results remains undetermined.

you say that you were taking it,if you are not taking it n ow perhaps the rash is being caused by something else, try eliminating things that you think might cause it.New soap or washing powder, being in contact with any animal's, worn a new top etc
