There are three possibilites.
If you have family / friends - they can only need to stay 2 nights at your house to ensure that the house is occupied within 60 days.
Or
You can get an organisation in to house-sit (this is useful when you have other pets you want feeding)
Or
Rent your house (and earn some money) for that period...though might need more insurance cover....
Hope this helps. - Mat

I had something similar and used Home Cover (http://www.home-cover.com/) and got a good quote, but I don't know if they can cover your specific circumstances - might be worth a try. The reason I chose them and one key thing to look at in your case is the 'cancellation clause'. You can cancel at any time, so you could buy it for a year, cancel after 5 months and have it refunded.
However, certain things may not be covered if your house is unoccupied for more than 30/60 days and you would probably need to notify the insurer. Contact them anyway and get as much information as you can.
Hope that helps.

What if you stick with your existing insurance for now & for the fi?rst 60 days that you are away & cancel it from the day you will go away & start a new cover from that day too?It might work out a bit more expensive but at least you will have cover & peace of mind

Are you planning on maintaining a residence here while you are away (either a home/apartment/condo/etc.)? If you are, your Homeowner's/Condo/Tenant's policy already covers your contents anywhere in the world. There will be some conditions you will have to meet in order to keep the policy in force (don't remove all of your contents from your dwelling here or else it may be considered vacant which is a big no-no!) while you are away, so speak with your broker/agent.

Check your policy. You should have coverage for your contents no matter where they are, up to a certain amount. It's according to how much the contents are worth that you will be taking. If they
are not worth any more than your insurance now covers, you do
not need additional coverage.

Dion - the place do you get that suggestions from? After working for around 13/14 years for an coverage company, and nevertheless working interior the coverage sector, i will enable you be attentive to which you'll be able to desire to get a definitive answer out of your person insurer. maximum insurers won't conceal robbery that has been finished by potential of folk invited into your place by potential of you, or by potential of folk invited into your place by potential of someone which you certain to be in fee of your place. Why in the international are you even pondering letting this female have loose reign at your place? in case you probably did have confidence her then you definately does not be asking this question! i does not have confidence my pets to those people - particularly in case you cat is timid. She could be plenty extra advantageous off in a great cattery - a minimum of she would be able to no longer be traumatised by potential of "questionable" people, i discover it no longer easy to have self belief which you will even evaluate leaving your puppy interior the care of somebody like this - there is not any telling what those people might do to her! in case you experience that they might scouse borrow from you, then they could have no qualms approximately tormenting a foul defenceless little cat.

I would recommend you speak to a Lloyds (of London - not TSB!!) Insurance Broker, who can often provide quotes for non-standard types of cover.
See http://marketdirectories.lloyds.com/ for details.
P.S. It may cost you, but at least you should get the cover you need.
