No.

Among other things, atheism means accepting the fact that we are _not_ the center of the universe. It's pretty obvious that a lot of the frantic denial of evolution by the religious comes from the narcissistic insistence that we _are_ the center of the universe.

The creationists' insistence that there is an essentially human "creator" of the universe is another clear demonstration of the narcissism that goes with religion. Whenever a creationist uses a "complexity" argument, you can see that he or she is utterly incapable of accepting the fact that a nonintentional process could result in something complex: in short, that he or she is incapable of admitting that anything but a human intelligence could do anything really wonderful. That's a demonstration of a narcissism so deeply embedded in their worldview that they're utterly blind to it.

Then there's also the fact that many religious people claim that the things that they say are "God's word", with the clear intent that we not question it. Atheists don't claim that their words are backed by some almighty invisible friend. Religious people often do. It's pretty clear who the narcissist is.

The repeated lie that "atheists make themselves their own gods" is nothing but a desperate and utterly unconvincing attempt to keep us from noticing religionists' deep arrogant narcissim.

Kaliroadrager puts a lot onto his assumption that atheists believe that nothing is right or wrong. Since atheists in general don't say that, that part of his argument is meaningless. Isn't it interesting that people who attack atheists depend so much on a couple of false beliefs with no apparent basis? It's obviously pulled out of thin air for the sole purpose of attacking people.

Since narcissism is an emotional fixation to the infant phase, and narcisst are very worried about being excepted and not rejekted and of having someone to care for their needs (usually because their needs were not proparly taken care of at that phase), no quite the opposite. Atheist should be the absolut not narcissists. Anyway narcissism has nothing to do with religious beliefs whatsoever.

It relies upon on the atheist. you ought to declare that some scientists (basically for an occasion - and that i understand becuase some have been my colleagues), are narcissistic atheists as a results of fact they consistent with possibility won't be able to undergo to think of that they did no longer have each and every of the solutions. Their form of atheism places them interior the front seat of know-how. delight is consistent with possibility a extra effective observe. Others are purely ignorant in that they get excitement from belittling others and are too lazy to artwork out their very own solutions. Others nevertheless are effortless Atheists and characteristic earnestly sought what they think of is the actuality - they are prepared to argue it yet no longer hotel to ridiculing others.

Actually wouldnt thinking that some omnipotent being having nothing better to do created humanity to be his chosen people to the detriment of anyone else a bit narcissistic?

Somewhat similar to the ole religous concept that earth was the center of the universe.

No, in fact it's the exact opposite.

Narcissism means investing your love and libido into an "other" which is nothing more than an illusory reflection of ones own ideal self.

I can't think of a more accurate description of belief in "God".

Oh, please. Just because we don't believe in your gods doesn't mean we're egocentric. What a crock of sh**. I like myself and I am comfortable in my own skin, but not to the exclusion of the rest of the world. As a matter of fact, I'm a nurse. Can you think of a profession LESS egocentric? Want to rephrase your foolish question? Grow up, sonny; the world is full of differing opinions.

Seems like God is a bit of a Narcissist. After all, he supposedly created man in his image.

No. Atheism does not denote self worship. Some atheists may be narcissists but it does not relate to atheism on it's own.
