no its not haram but u can say not advisable there are few things in islam which are not forbidden but better not to do it. And masturbation also comes under this section

Actually it is Haram...
but it is allowed in cases when you really can't take it, and you think you might do Zina..then it is allowed..but mainly you shouldn't face things that help arouse you...like porn..( porn is haram anyway )
there's a Hadith that the Prophet was calling upon young men to get married if they can because it is safer for them to do .. and to those who can't they should fast for it is a "cure" in a way..

Well it depends, u can't watch porn or anything like that, u have to do it by ur own thoughts, which isn't that fun. But i really don't know for sure.
