Hi,
In another question I asked about the strip search.
But what about the situation of hygienic items inside female prisons (toilet, shower, how you can clean your underwear etc…)

Thanks for your answers!

your cell is equiped with a sink and toilet. they are connected together. when you first get there you will be quaranteened for af few weeks until you are medically cleared. they will give you a care package which will consist of soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, a small bottle of shampoo and a little deodorant. what ever you do dont wash your genitals with soap it has lye in it and it will burn and cause an infection.they let you take showers pretty much anytime they are single showers so dont worry. you will get the opportunity to buy personal items and snacks. it is called commissary in some states and in others its called canteen. prison uses alot of military terminolgy. its not as bad as you think if you dont have too much time. use your time to your advantage.they offer you schooling and some prisons teach you a trade. oh i forgot they have washers and dryers for your dirty clothes. i hope this helps you

The conditions inside prisons can be very variable depending on the classification of the inmates and the age of the facility. Nearly all modern prisons or correctional facilities have showers and toilets in individual cells. The showers may be on a controlled time regime but otherwise it's the same as a domestic situation. Some prisons have a central laundry where personal washing can be sent in special mesh bags that are washed and dried unopened or the cell block, wing or unit may have it's own laundry that can be accessed by all the inmates at a pre-determined time.

To answer you question you must understand in today's prisons everything is concrete and steel. Most prisons are dorm style prisons. Only those prisoners who are being held separately for security reasons or for the type of crime are held in individual cells.
In most cases before or after breakfast the prisoners are given supplies to clean their facility. If need during the day a guard can be called for a "special clean up." But the prisoner or pod better have a good reason.
Most prisoners are given two sets of clothing. Some Prisons allow the inmates to buy additional clothing. A schedule is set up for laundry. Generally no more than every third day dependent on the size of the facility.
In most cases the inmates must preform good house keeping or they could loose their privileges. Also remember the prison is held to standards that are set by both the Courts and by the State Prison Bureau.

My Aunt and Uncle both go to prisons to counsel and help prisoners of both races. It is my understanding that each person has a job, they have big laundry rooms, prisoners work in there. Prison issues clothes. As for as hygienic items, soap and water are all that is truly necessary to be clean. If you have some one in prison, family members can send money for extra items that is not normally issued by the prison. As far as the specific question of toilet, shower and clean underwear, they have all these. There are time limits in the shower, clean toilets and the underwear is washed in the laundry room. This is what my aunt said.

I do believe that they have laundries in prisons, and even the indigent get personal hygiene supplies. With that you can use your small bar of soap if you had to.

Brilliant and so true. Only a man can walk down the high street with his beer belly hanging over his shorts, bald head gleaming and thinking he is sexy.
