Melanoma is a skin cancer caused by increased and abnormal growth of melanocytes, the cells that normally produces black pigment and are mainly responsible for skin colour.
It is a very dangerous and highly spreading cancer and should be treated as early as possible. It is somewhat genetically linked too but it occurs mainly because of skin damage by sun. i hope that answers your question...cheers

Skin cancer caused mainly by sunlight can be fatal if not caught and treated very early,cover up if you are a white person in a black persons country(meant the nice way)of course ,can affect any skin though.High incidence here in Australia.
