Then why is it so cold?

Well Bob, obviously you have not experienced a volcanic eruption or you would not have written what you did. I have experienced one, and let me tell you, they emit some awful gases. I live over 500 miles from where the eruption was and over half of the population received burns all over their bodies, me included.

Bob, I just noticed we have the same source, and it says volcanoes can enhance global warming. You need to read your sources before you make a fool out of yourself. Here are the exact words from the source: Volcanic eruptions can enhance global warming by adding CO2 to the atmosphere

Ha Ha that's a good question. I don't believe man is the cause of it either. I think it is a normal fluctuation myself. Just watch in a few years it will get cold again if it isn't happening now already.
I can't believe so many people have fallen for this hoax.
Al Gore should get the Darwin award for stupidity.

The meteorologists in my area say that the weird weather we are having is a combination of global warming and El Nino. For us to know exactly why we feel cold at this moment in time, we need to look at the global picture. For instance, Russia is currently having the warmest winter on record. For whatever reason, the cold that normally descends upon Russia during winter has been shifted into the continental United States, making us colder than a witches boob in a brass bra, and destroying crops in California.

Global warming never promised us a tropical paradise all year round (although the planting chart for my area has been changed to a warmer climate). That is the biggest mistake that laymen make. What it does promise us is melting polar ice caps (which is happening), rising seas, and the strangest, if not most dangerous, weather patterns humans have experienced in a long time.

It could be that you are staying at a rural or not so polluted area. Global warming only happens in a few part of the world and the effects are only seen in some places. If it is cold at your place, it might be that that place is windy and that's all.

The South Pole does not go through any significant temperature changes but the ice are melting. Other than that, even though the place you are staying may be cold, the temperature might have gone up by a little compared to your parents time.

I hope this helps.:)

Because global warming means long term changes in climate. The weather is short term, and we can have a cold spell.

It's not natural. People can wave their hands and make crazy arguments, unsupported by data, but the actual scientific data clearly shows they're wrong. Here's the proof.

The arguments about volcanoes are flat wrong, bordering on ridiculous. Volcanoes emit a tiny fraction of what man produces. And the dust they throw up cancels most of that out.

"a far greater amount of CO2 is contributed to the atmosphere by human activities each year than by volcanic eruptions. Volcanoes contribute about 110 million tons/year, whereas other sources contribute about 10 billion tons/year"

The IPCC report considered the measured values of solar variation, and it's nowhere near enough to cause the wrming. The total warming is 2.6 watts per meter squared. The solar incrose is 0.12 watts per meter squared.

And the warming is far more rapid than any natural cycle could be.

Natural CO2 emissions may be more than man. But naturally produced CO2 is recycled by the "carbon cycle". Man is messing that up by digging up carbon the natural cycle buried over millions of years, and buring it very fast. Here's the data. The little squiggles are the natural cycle doing its' thing. CO2 goes down in the summer when plants are active, and up in the winter when they're not. The huge increase is us, burning fossil fuels.

The scientific evidence is overwhelming, which is why these people, who are not liberals, think it's real. You may or may not respect all of them, but surely you respect some of them.

"The science of global warming is clear. We know enough to act now. We must act now."

James Rogers, CEO of Charlotte-based Duke Energy.

"The overwhelming majority of atmospheric scientists around the world and our own National Academy of Sciences are in essential agreement on the facts of global warming and the significant contribution of human activity to that trend."

Russell E. Train, former environmental official under Presidents Nixon and Ford

"We simply must do everything we can in our power to slow down global warming before it is too late. The science is clear. The global warming debate is over."

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Republican, Governor, California

"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."

John McCain, Republican, Senator, Arizona

"These technologies will help us become better stewards of the environment - and they will help us to confront the serious challenge of global climate change."

President George Bush
