No. An office environment is suppose to be a 'professional' work place, and there is nothing professional about swearing - in fact the use of crude language shows a lack of education and a social ineptitude that does not belong in a business environment.

A do not swear policy makes sense, if not taken to the extreme.
If things go wrong on occasion someone may slip, so it need not be something that equates to a serious reprimand. Simply put: excessive swearing makes people uncomfortable.

No, it should not be . I work in a health care setting where clients and visitors are often in the hallways and can overhear what we say and they do not appreciate hearing the 'swearing'.
So, if we curb what we say in order not to offend others, why should we swear at all? Swearing will not change anything.

I work in a police department and all the officers do all day is swear. It's kinda funny though cause when I walk in they suddenly change their vocabulary and get all apologetic like it bothers me.

Swearing doesn't bother me at all - its only words. Although I do understand there is a time and place for everything, but don't really think it should be banned from the office, after all thats where most people get stressed out!

GOOD QUESTION, I WORK IN A CALL CENTRE ENVIRONMENT AND THE HEAD SETS ARE VERY SENSITIVE, THIS MEANS ANYONE ON THE PHONE AROUND ME CAN HEAR EVERYTHING SO CAN THE PERSON WHO'S CALLING. SO YES AND NO REALLY, IT DOESN'T SOUND VERY PROFESSIONAL BUT SH1T HAPPENS HEY. SOMETIMES WE CAN'T HELP IT, THE CUSTOMERS WHO RING UP REALLY STRESS US OUT SO ONCE THE CALL IS FINNISHED WE GO ON A RANT AND SWEAR A LITTLE!
