Becoming more friendly with the person you are jealous of, smile always when around that person, never ever let them know you are jealous!

If you show it, it IS obvious. You avoid showing jealousy by being non-obvious. Why not try to erradicate the feeling by being grateful that the other person has something nice that you don't... You can control your jealous feelings by learning to accept that you will never have ALL things other people have. Count your blessings AND BE grateful for what you have. When you feel jealous, let that feeling be your driving force to obtain the things you like by studying, going to college, getting a good job and hard work.

Covert jealousy like the obvious or overt expressions are rooted in anger... sarcastic remarks, being non-supportive of the person targeted, doing things behind the targeted person back that you know will cause damage to them in some way. Frankly, if a person is going to be jealous or envious of me... I much prefer the open overt approach... at least I would know what the heck is going on and how to possibly resolve the issue or avoid the person. Interesting question.

if you notice someone has adopted the mannerisms and/or style of someone you are probably seeing idol worship not jealousy. if you notice someone adopting new habits that are exactly opposite of the person in question then it is jealousy.

The thing is that most people THINK they're not being obvious, but they are...
You can see it in their body language, fake smiles, etc. You hear it in the sarcastic and/or passive aggressive remarks.

Good question. When I was jealous of my girlfriend, I would often hang back, being less friendly than usual. I was really punishing myself.
