Were I a common laugher, or did use
To stale with ordinary oaths my love
To every new protester, if you know
That I do fawn on men and hug them hard
And, after, scandal them, or if you know
That I profess myself in banqueting
To all the rout, then hold me dangerous.

Please translate the passage above into modern english.
Thanks

Were I a common (woman?) or if I used regular professions of love on every man that came along, and if you know that I fawn over men and have sex with them (possibly) and after scandal them, or if you know that I say I am available to all men, then say I am dangerous.

That's what I think, anyway.
(Basically she's saying if she WERE these things then he could say she was dangerous or untrustworthy)

Very basically....you can trust me because I am not two-faced or duplicitous.
And I don't make myself out to be something i'm not.

Difficult to get your head round, innit?

If nobody comes up with a better answer...I'll come back and tell you some more.
