How do i restore this menu as it has just disappeared?

If you're using the new Office, Office 2007, I believe they totally redesigned the GUI. I'm not sure you can revert it back to the original look or not.

I don't think there is a way to hide the menu bar so I don't know whats going on but try this: right click on top where all the toolbars are and click on the"customize..." button on the bottom, it opens a screen and the first tab says "Toolbars" scroll down till you see "menu bar" and select it and close the window.

does it show "view"?
if so click on this then toolbars, and click on the appropiate toolbar until it reappears
