Kidneys are the filters of your body. It filters out the urea in your body. (Urea is poisons to human)
If the urea concentration in your body gets too high, you may die from it.
The best way is to get a healthy Kidney transplant. Normal person has two kidneys, but one is good enough to keep a person alive....
Good luck

Humans have 2 kidneys. They are for the purpose to remove or filter out impurities in our body and thus exit the body through urine.
Normally if one fail, we can still survive with just 1 kidney. But if both fail, you will need to go for kidney dialysis, where blood will be drawn out from the body through the arterial vein, passing through an filter (osmosis) and return back to the venous vein.
This is normally a life long treatment.
A person will die from septicemia (infection) if not treated for dialysis. One solution is go for kidney dialysis ( life long, expensive) and another is to wait for a suitable donor.( can be from family members).
Nonetheless, check with your health care sector and see if there is any help available for dialysis.
Additional:
Don't asked your mum to drink so much water. The kidney is failing. So if she drank more water than she should, it will cause the kidney to over work more.

Ummm.... YEAH!! it's not CAN you die. It's WHEN will you die. The only way to stay alive from kidney failure is to either get a kidney transplant or get Dialysis. Which is when they hook you up to a machine which filters your blood and bodily fluids and stuff like your kidneys would of done. So yeah. It's a HUGE concern.

I have a sad story about that, but I won't go into it. Yes, you can die from kidney failure as your kidneys purify your blood. You need to have your mother get dialisys immediately.

I couldn't just sit around and do nothing like my doctors suggested.
They didn't want me to do anything or to take herbs or herbal remedies, but I had to try something - they just wanted me to do dialysis!
This program allowed me to take control of my health. I went from Stage 4 to Stage 3 kidney disease.
It was easy to do and my BUN, creatinine and anemia are all in better ranges.
