If you have the time and opportunity get into a volunteer organisation helping people who are genuinely disadvantaged, eg. the elderly, mentally handicapped, or become a hospice visitor. Your help will be greatly appreciated, and your regard for yourself will rise accordingly. Good Luck!

I know its easier said that done but you've got to think and appreciate everything you've got around you, material, family, friends and be grateful for them, as at the end of the day the truth is there is lots of people who really do have nothing and are in a worse state of life than what you are and think your self lucky for that. Here are a few sayings for you, positive statements they are read them over and over and everytime your feeling low they do help:-

Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change. We fail because we give up, and we give up because we never had a plan in the first place. Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly. The reason why so little is done is generally because so little is attempted. When you come to a road block take a detour. The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it. Work spares us from three evils: boredom, vice and need. Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. You can conquer almost any fear if you will only make up your mind to do so. For, remember, fear doesn’t exist anywhere except in the mind. Nothing great in the world has ever been accomplished without passion. Rise above the storm and you will find the sunshine. We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are. You get the best out of others when you give the best of yourself. You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try. For success, attitude is equally as important as ability. Your greatest resource is your time. Obsrtacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal. The only place you’ll fid success before work is in the dictionary. Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars. The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. The more we give of anything, the more we shall get back

You need to speak to your doctor as soon as possible.

You may be suffering from a depression-related illness. If you are experiencing any of the following

- money problems, i.e. credit card debt or rent arrears, etc
- work problems i.e. overworked, underpaid, not appreciated
- having difficulty sleeping
- low concentration
- comfort eating
- tend to keep to yourself
- not up to going out and meeting people
- or you have thoughts about harming yourself

You need to tell your doctor. Your doctor should be able to refer you first to professional counselling and the counsellor may determine that you need other treatment.

This may include medication.

Don't be alarmed. Studies show that short term courses of medication (less than a year) can significantly improve your chances of getting over this. Your doctor and the counsellors will always discuss this fully with you and at the end of teh day the decision will still remain with you.

Once the meds take effect (can be 4-6 weeks), it will be necessary to adjust the dose by being re-assessed regularly.

After the right dose is determined, you will most likely be feeling much better about yourself and you'll want to get out and meet people and enjoy life.

You are not alone. It's important to seek help as soon as possible.

I wish you well.

i just have to say that you jerks that tell ppl look at the bright side, look at the positive etc have no clue what the rest of us go through. I would suggest reading some Dr Phil stuff - he teaches you how to retrain your brain or fix that record in your head that keeps repeating all the negative thoughts.
\
Not a record - a tape. ANyway, check it out. I think um it was Life Matters or that other one that is really good.

If misery is set at number one and nirvana is set at number ten it's unrealistic to try to jump that great a mental distance.
If you feel you are at a number two, getting to number ten is so far away from your sense of now that it is no more than a frustrating dream, to add to your sense of despondency.
But what if you aim to feel just a little better, aim for a two and a half or a three, do you think you can manage that?
Go for frosty walk, get some cold fresh air, marvel at nature, think about where Jack Frost goes in our summer. Anything, just pull yourself up to a three. Then tomorrow think about it again...

I sometimes have the same problem.

Listen to music, hang out at the mall with friends, talk to your friends. My friends cheer me up. Or pamper yourself in a nice relaxing bath- perfect for encouraging happy thoughts.

Hope this helps hun,
