Try changing his diet as Chetco suggested, it helps with hyper dogs. But the root cause is the lack of excersise. Can you find someone else who can help you walk him? If you call your vet they will be able to put a notice up in the surgery asking for volunteers.
It can't be easy for you being stuck in bed, and he's getting cabin fever!
I don't know if oyu feel up to it, but if you can chuck a ball down the hall for him for an hour it might help. Make him sit when he brings it back or you won't throw it, and it will re-inforce his training at the same time. Do it calmly, not winding him up.
Get your husband to get a big bag of rawhide chews as well, and maybe one of those balls that you put dry biscuit in; they roll it around and a biscuit drops out the hole every so often.

Well your problem is,is because he's not beeing walked.Did you know anything about this breed before getting him?they are working dogs and without exercise can be become nerotic and gain nuisance behavious. If you cant walk him you should get a dog walker to come and do it,or a family member or friend. If you cant do this, then really you are beeing very selfish and not thinking of your dogs emotional and phsical well beeing. What will happen when you have the baby?he will be even worse as he will not even be getting the same attention as before,as you will be busy with the baby.He should be having at least 3 walks a day and free running, this would help calm him down tremendously.I can tell you love your dog,but sometimes loving them isn't enough.Either get someone to come and walk him,or rehome him to someone who can give him the stimulation he needs.

He needs as much exercise as you can get him. If he gets along with other dogs try to find a dog park near you (if it's not too snowy and cold right now). Your dog will probably calm down within a year or so just with regular aging. Dogs are considered puppies up until 2 years old. Aussie Shepard's are also very smart and need a lot of stimulation. Think up activities for him out of the house (walks are good, obedience classes, too). Good luck with your doggie!

Make sure he is on a low protein diet as this gives them more energy.
Find things that will keep him amused - if you are meant to be resting can you still throw a ball for him to retrieve ?
Failing that I would maybe look for a "dog walker" - find someone that you can trust to take him out for looooong walks - I know it might be expensive but maybe ask a neighbouring young person that also has lots of energy they may be glad of the pocket money and glad of the excercise.
Get him toys that keep him entertained - ones that you can put nice treats in for him to "get" - give him chews.
More importantly get him into a routine - get it so he knows when the house gets up, when he gets fed, when he goes out, etc then he will not be so anxious and hyper as he knows what will happen and when.
Best of luck !

That's the problem right there. Your dog needs exercise. Maybe you should consider hiring a dog walker (very popular in the city) or if that's not affordable you also might want to consider finding him a new home. When owning a dog you've got to consider the animal's well being. He needs to get out and run at least walk everyday. He won't stop jumping and barking because he's got all this pent up energy that needs to be released. I wish you luck...be good to your dog!

Aussies are typically HIGH drive HIGH energy dogs. He needs a way to burn off some of that energy. Playing in the house with 2 chi's isn't enough.
Pay a niece or nephew to walk him twice a day. Or any teenager you'd trust.

The dog needs exercise. Aussies have a never ending amount of energy. They are very smart and they need something to do. If you cannot walk him, hire someone to. Buy puzzle toys for him so he can work his brain. You should also consider obedience classes.

By nature Aussie Shepherds are not meant to cooped up in the house or an apartment. He needs a big place to run around in. A fenced in place if possible where he cannot bother any other dogs and or they cannot bother him.
Also to take note Aussie Shepherds are natural herders, which means that your dog may or not attempt to herd you. They need a fairly strong owner.

Take him for walks and make sure he gets lots of exercise and discipline. Keep in mind that you have a HIGH energy dog (my mother in law has two and they are CRAZY!). You need to make sure that you wear him out. Also, have you neutered him? My motherinlaw's vet said that the males usually calm down after 1)they get neutered and 2)they turn 2.
Otherwise, take him for walks.

If you can't walk him, give him some work to do. Practise some obedience with him to keep his brain active. Aussies are born to work & need to use their brains as well as having physical exercise. If you do some obedience with him, you can also teach him when he has to settle down.
Half an hour's training will wear him out as much as half an hour's run.
