Powdered drinks sweetened with sugar will make you gain weight. Powdered drinks sweetened with artificial sweeter Splenda,Nutra-Sweet,Sweet & Low won't make you gain weight as long as they are low in sodium. High sodium content in food and drink causes water retention and weight gain.

If the powdered juice drink has sugar in it, it can be a contributing factor towards gaining weight. Sugar that is not "burnt" right away is changed ultimately into storage carbohydrates, i.e. fat. Obviously the other foods you eat, the amount of exercise you get, and your metabolic rate are important too. You know, I would think about getting a different doctor after reading your comments that she/he said since powdered juices have vitamins and are acidic they won't cause you to gain weight. Duh.
