Are the current tactics working? or are they too costly financially and in terms of loss of our way of life and our values? Will we defeat terrorists, but lose our identity and our values as a nation?

I don't know? everyone wants to say that what we are doing is not working, but has there been a terror attack inside the U.S. since this started? Do you have a better solution? Maybe we can use the Clinton plan of wait until they strike then go get them. Well, that doesn't work when the perpetrators are willing to die for their cause. I assert that if the next president pulls us out of Iraq and / or gets rid of the patriot act and /or relaxes travel restrictions, etc. There will be a major terror attack on U.S. soil soon after.

One has to acknowledge the underlying cause of terrorism. The root cause is the mis-interpretation of religion. People say that the terrorists dont' belong to any religion, but that's pure hypocracy just to appease others. They are fighting for their religion. They are getting the clues from their religion. "Religion" and it's hardcoded violence. If 'religion' is not the root cause, then can someone explain why people went on rampage 'across' the world about some cartoons?. It tells you that it has nothing to with a country, terroritory or a geographic location. It has to do with the 'religion' itself. Let us face it. Let me give you another example to differentiate that particular religion from others. In UK, six months back, a company printed the pictures of Hindu Gods on panties and bras. There was a protest by Hindus. They went to court and took the action legally and got the apologies. But they didn't revolt to killing people or destorying the properties. I bet, you do the same thing to 'this violent' religion. Just for cartoons, they made a whole mess out in all the countries. THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE ONE HAS TO UNDERSTAND.

Killing them is not going to solve the problem because that 'religion' will continue to breed the extremists.

Only solution is publicly acknowledging the issues caused by that 'religion'. Once the thief knows that he has been recognized, then he will not do that mischeif again. At least people in that community won't let them do it.

Take the example of your son. Your son does a lot of mischief in the school. His teachers tells you (doesn't complain) that he is a pretty good student but sometimes is a bit naughty may be because of his age. You won't take any action. If she manhandles him, then you will get angry and you won't even listen to what she says. But if she comes and complains to you and tell you the facts as they are, then you yourself will take care of your son.

Leave the terrorists to be taken care by their own religion. You just put down the facts. Look at all the conflicts in the world. "That" religion is common. Get all the countries together and publicly denounce it.

By saying "terorism has no religion' bla bla... bla.. is only going to increase the issue.

If someone says "education" as a solution, then they are utterly wrong. Most of the people that did 911 were well educated. It's the religion that is making them blind.

When your dealing with terrorists that are brainwashed into believing they should strap explosives on them-selves and BOOM!!! to take out as many people as they can, what reasoning tools do you have other than the military option? We haven't lost our way of life or our values. What have you not been able to do that you were able to do before that really mattered, (Longer waits in airports?) over what you would be giving up if the terrorists won--world wide? Don't you think one of the main reasons we are fighting is because of our value of human life and freedom? I think we should be proud that we care enough to help out people that have, for thirty years, lived under a dictator that placed no value on human life and allowed no freedoms in his own country. What kind of $$$$ do you place on freedom? What is our freedom worth to us? What if it was us that needed the help? We're to use to quick-fix solutions to everything. It won't be fast and it will be costly but it will be worth it. I think the rest of the world will know it too---when they aren't having to deal with terrorist attacks in their countries. Couldn't happen? Where are all of the ones that were trained in terrorist camps over the years? They are out there somewhere!!

How about some dialogue and a group hug? That ought to do wonders.

The military option makes us more of a target for "next time".
