The gentleman always accepts the fault for her unladylike behavior, so as to not strip her of her dignity when rejecting her.

"I must apologize for my behavior. I have somehow misled you into thinking that I would dishonor you or your wonderful husband by behaving inappropriately. Please forgive my rude behavior, because I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to have an affair with a married woman".

I'm sorry Susan, but my wife would not like to hear about any flirtatious behavior at work. I'm sorry if I did anything to make you think I was interested in flirting, but I need it to stop.
Or, Susan, I love my wife, and respect her. I can't engage in flirtatious behavior. Other people have noticed. Other people will notice, and carry tales back to my wife, and I can't allow that to happen. Sorry, to me, flirting is not appropriate for the workplace. Sorry, I come to the gym to workout, not to flirt. Have you met my wife, Mary? she's great. She will be here Saturday, maybe you can meet her. I wear a wedding ring for a purpose, Susan, it is to show people I am married. I never take it off, and Mary's name is engraved in it.
Combine any of these, as you think are appropriate. Keep it short and simple and to the point.

Why do you feel you need to be polite? That is the problem. Tell her as strongly as you can to back off and that she is a married woman and should know better. I had a married man press up on me ONCE and I asked him "what makes you think I want someone elses trash?" He NEVER bothered me again. Being "polite" will NOT solve your problem. She won't believe you and won't stop.

Funny enough, I'm having a similar problem myself lately!
I think that a very serious talk should do the trick. Something along these lines:
"Pam, I wanted to tell you that some of your behavior has been making me uncomfortable. I appreciate your friendship, but sometimes I feel that your behavior is too flirty for the situation. For example, yesterday when you made a sexual joke around me it really made me feel uncomfortable. I'd really appreciate it if you didn't make any mention of things like that in the future."

Let me know how it goes...

Flirt back very dirty. Ask her is she's into the anal scene and if she does push-ups on shoe trees. Tell her you have a 5 gallon pail of KY next to you bed with her name on it. She will be discusted and leave you along.

You could tell her that you are flattered, yet because she is married, it would be best if she "practice" her flirting ways on her husband. And with him only. Take care.
