My computer is starting up really slow. I cleared up all the cookies, etc with adaware. I ran antivirus. I ran windows' "disk cleanup". I ran windows' "disk defragment". I unchecked almost every item in msconfig's windows startup, but I think there is some startup items that I don't know what they are and have not unchecked them.

What are the only startup items needed, just the minimum, for windows to run properly?

Thank you.

For any items in the startup that you aren't sure about, type the name exactly in the Yahoo search bar and you will get a description and info. Depending on the data you receive, you can make a decision weather to check or uncheck the item.

Here you can read about startup programs:
http://www.castlecops.com/StartupList.html
But, I use the program "Chameleon Startup Manager" for it:
http://www.neosoft-tools.com/windows-startup-manager.htm
It disables any startup programs and fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).

just do some research on the remaining items you have running and decide if it's safe to disable. click ctr+alt+delete and check the processes. look each one up on the Internet for info. generally most system processes should be left untouched so focus on owner running processes. to disable selected processes go to start click run and type misconfig. when the pop up opens select start up option and un check unneeded processes.

It is safe to disable everything. Windows will automatically run the things it needs to.
