yes I'm sure its migraine. It started when I was a kid (7-8 years old) and was diagnosed.
I'm not a fan of pills and stuff and usually go for a sleep in a very dark room. It feels like my brain is moving in my head!
Anyhow I'm done with my studies and am goin to sleep now.
tnx for the advice. the cold compress made it a bit better.

When I get migranes i take either a hot or a cold compress and put it on my head or eyes... for some reason either one works for me.... also my doctor told me that a lot of time migranes are really just sinus headaches... but i dunno if you feel pressure in that area you might want to try a decongestant. Try massaging the pressure point in between you thumb and index finger... drink lots of water... I hope you feel better i know how much migranes can suck...

First of all, are you sure it's a migraine headache? Have you been diagnosed with migraines, or is it just a severe headache? If you have been diagnosed with migraines, have you been given prescriptions for anything? Imitrex? Maxalt? If so, do these work at all?
What type of pills have you tried? Excedrin Migraine is a pretty decent OTC pill that works a little bit better than most of the other standard OTC pain pills. It actually combines Tylenol, Aspirin, and caffeine and works better than any of the three alone. I've found that it can take care of anything up to a mid level tension headache, and, while you do have a more severe headache, it might be useful to take the edge off if you can't do anything else.
If that doesn't work, do you have access to anything stronger? Vicodin, while not the best thing to take for a migraine all the time because of rebound headaches, is a pretty good choice if you need to get rid of the headache now. Morphine is another excellent choice, again, if you don't use it all of the time. Morphine is actually the only thing that will work for me when I get really bad migraines.
If you want to get more experimental, you could try Valerian Root, which is an OTC herbal supplement. It's supposed to be used for insomnia (which is what I used it for), but it might dull your headache at least. It will probably put you to sleep too though.
Moving away from pills, have you tried a hot or cold rag on your head? While it's not going to get rid of the migraine, it might a little bit with the pain.
If these aren't options for you, you might want to consider Marijuana. I know it sound stupid, but it's actually supposed to work pretty well (I've read that they're actually making a nasal spray for migraines based on cannabis), but I doubt you'd be ready for any test if you went with this option.
Good luck.
PS- Your hands can go numb before a migraine. It's called an aura, and usually signals a migraine is coming. I would sometimes have the left side of my body go numb before I had migraines. It might be a good idea to go to the ER though if your numbness is persistant.

If you don't already have some preventative meds or prescription pain killers, than do this if you feel one coming on. Take 2 Advil (that equals 600mg which is safe), and at the same time take 2 extra strength Tylenol. Also instead of those, take 2 Excedrin Migraine, they work pretty well. Get yourself to a neurologist as soon as you can for a full work up. I've suffered from these headaches for 6 years, I know how bad they are! I hope you feel better and take care.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

Excedrin Migraine works for me. If it's in your sinuses, Excedrin
Sinus and Headache is also good. Also, Activ On rubbed on
the forehead and neck works good for me too. Or, you can also
lay on your back and put a heating pad under your neck. Good
luck. I know how painful migraines can be.

Try rubbing the outside ankle of your less dominant foot..........I laughed when I read this, but was surprised it worked. Otherwise caffeine or keep a food diary to avoid future ones. Good luck on your exam.

caffeine sometimes works. try rubbing your temples a little. and maybe you should get your eyes checked out. Your eyes straining could be the reason. especially if you're tired.
