I leave for the Navy soon, and I do not need anything else on my mind. I've started getting very close with a girl I've known for awhile now, and it seems no matter what I do to prevent myself from falling more and more for her, it doesn't help. We both know this shouldn't be happening, but we can't help it. I would like us to just stay friends though. But unfortunately, it's more than that. I don't want to be thinking about her 24/7 while I'm gone... and not be able to be with her. She's also in college out of state. Should I just stop speaking with her before it gets any worse? Anyone been in this situation kind enough to give some advice? Thanks.

How do stop yourself from falling in love? You can't. It just happens and there's not really anything we can do about it. If you love her you're going to be thinking about her, etc. while you're gone anyway, so I'd make the most of what time you have left. Follow your heart and do what you know is the right thing, whatever that may be.
