I just got a 9lb ham from the supermarket and have it in the fridge... do I need to freeze part of it or how long will it last in the fridge?

Yes, freeze the excess and the rest will last about a week in the fridge, ten days if it is the saltier cured ham.

I would keep it in the fridge for about a week or so. But if you don't want to use all of it, then freeze some of it, but once you have cut it and frozen one half, use the other half within a few days
