Amnesty? NO! Any politician that supports full amnesty will face a firestorm of wrath from the voters. Congress won't touch the issue this year. They will treat it with kid gloves, like a hot potatoe, because it may tip the balance in many elections nationwide. Amnesty will never happen. Best chance for unwanted guests is to return home, improve conditions in your own countries, create fair job markets, & if you want to come here again register on your side of the border and wait years for your opportunity, just like most everyone else has done since the times of Ellis Island in NYC. Best political solution for whomever is here now beyond 5 years is a guest worker program. Register, pay your back taxes & as long as you are viably employed you can stay. Otherwise, deadbeats, illegals, drug dealers, smugglers, criminals, STAY HOME!

Not a chance. The politicians want to stay in power. There are a lot of VERY angry Americans out there steaming about illegal aliens. The topic is way too hot to touch until 08. Even then they better tread lightly because there are a lot of one issue voters (illegal alien deportation) like me waiting to drop the axle on anyone that even utters amnesty. If you are hoping for amnesty, it's going to be a long wait. It's the crooked politicians that got illegals here, and it will be them that continue to suppress them no matter how many Mexican flag waving demonstrations they have.

Ilegals here and illegals there. Why the government doesn't worry about the legal immigrants who came and stayed lawfully and are in no violation of any rule. They should shorten the path to get a green card for those legals who applied.
US citizens and legal immigrants compete for jobs with the illegals, who work for little money. When is this going to end?

NO
Amnesty for lawbreakers will never fly.....It is NOT who or why
It is the human rejection of others that would cheat and deceive in order to obtain what THEY desire...
ALL humans have desires/wants and needs but Humans that choose to defy laws,or use subterfuge and deceit to take that which does not belong to them are in all societies labeled as criminals ..
Congress will not act as the public that elected them will destroy the legislators that betray their oaths in order to capture votes and money. they would be worse than criminals and given no mercy
illegals need to be aware that they are being fed false info by their activists who really think they can force the issue...last time America reacted against forced mandates proclaimed as necessary, the US mobilized an army and tossed the British
out. Tyranny from anyone including a deceitful and arrogant congress will not be tolerated...

no one is talking about amnesty.
they are talking about reforms that should legalize those illegals who have been here for over 2yrs and have no criminal record.
well according to "The economist" 's evaluation 2007 is the yr of the immigration reform for a bunch of reasons.
if it happens should happen within few months or otherwise the 2008 election will keep the politician way too busy
