What's your story? Any miracles involved?

No I was an anti-God though. Not anti-Christian really, I had no real grudge against people since how they live doesn't affect how I live.... But anyway, I always believed in God from as early as I can remember, but I never really had my heart in it. In my early teenage years I helped lead my first girlfriend to Christ and my spiritual walk started getting stronger, but then she died. I got angry at God because of it and at a religious camp of all places I began cursing and swearing at an image of Christ on the cross. Just whatever I felt like God was saying to my heart I would curse back as if I was having a conversation. For instance I was saying how God didn't know what pain I was going through, he was just sitting up there in heaven enjoying my torment, and had taken my girlfriend away from me just because he likes causing pain. Then all of a sudden I just realized how I was having a conversation with God, although more of an argument, and if I bothered to argue against God when I was alone, that meant I truly did believe in God, I didn't just profess to beleive, basically. In my heart I heard God's words and even though i rejected them, I realized how I truly felt his words. Then I looked at the cross and realized how I deserved death and to be struck by a lightning bolt. Sure, swearing is bad, but swearing at God? I was doomed, I thought. But I looked at that cross and Christ was still on it. Then I remembered that verse "Christ died for the sinner". Then I just realized that Christianity is not about holy people coming to Christ, it is about the wretch of society coming to Christ. I knew I did not deserve Christ to die for me, but he had enough Grace to offer himself for me, and even though I consider myself unworthy, I can do nothing but wholly accept it.

And as far as miracles, there was one that happened earlier... Well my first girlfriend had a disease before we met and it worried me for a bit because I did not want to get it either.... But then at one point I just decided that I loved her enough to risk getting her disease. But then one day she showed me a medical report and her disease was totally gone, even though there was no known medical cure. It just totally vanished. I always wondered why God would heal her even though she died a month or two later (not of the same disease by the way), and I figure it was just God showing me that she was cleansed of her life of sin and was made pure. For a while after her death I was angry at God thinking he took her before she had a chance to make up for her sins, but by her disease being cured I kind of realized that God was telling me that her sins were already vanished.

I believe that there is no God. I'm beyond atheism. Atheism is not believing in God. Not believing in God is easy -- you can't prove a negative, so there's no work to do.

You can't prove that there isn't an elephant inside the trunk of my car. You sure? How about now? Maybe he was just hiding before. Check again. Did I mention that my personal heartfelt definition of the word "elephant" includes mystery, order, goodness, love and a spare tire?

So, anyone with a love for truth outside of herself has to start with no belief in God and then look for evidence of God. She needs to search for some objective evidence of a supernatural power. All the people I write e-mails to often are still stuck at this searching stage. The atheism part is easy.

I converted to theism. Realized how pointless atheism was and saw too many atheists following the same dogma as Christians.

I'm a former athiest converted to theism (pantheism), not Christianity. The miracle is that this universe is a something instead of a nothing.

P.S. David, you became a christian because the cops didn't find your 8-ball?!? LOL!!! You have to admit it's kinda funny.

Yes I was an atheist 28 years. I saw miracles.

I was arrested and a drug team was searching my home....I had lots of pot, that was all found. I prayed for the 1st time in 15 years while in jail awaiting bail. I figured If I am going to be wrong about Jesus, now is the best time to test it out. I had a half ounce of cocaine under the couch cushion. I prayed my heart out that it would not be found....If it was not, I would give my life to Him.

As I was held overnight, apparently the search went on into the evening. There was a dog there they said in court, and I knew I was screwed!!! They also reported small bits of cocaine was found in the kitchen on plastic bags, so this dog has a nose for coke. I prayed that if G-d could turn that dog's nose off in my basement that I would serve Him. I went home after being free on bail. My house was destroyed. Golf clubs broken in half, fireplace disassembled, kitchen wrecked.....etc

I went downstairs and only one thing was as I left it, the cushion on my couch. I have 2 couches there, one was torn apart, the other was left completely how it was. I reached under, and there it was. I got rid of it and have not used drugs since.

As I came more and more towards G-d, I kept going back to court. One by one, my charges continued to get dropped. Eventually they were all dismissed. Even my lawyer didn’t really understand it. They had all kinds of drugs, plants, bits of coke…lots of evidence. Yet they continually dismissed charges. Now I am 100% free and have no record at all! Praise G-d!

Also, years ago the pastor and a few of us from church prayed over a lady who had not walked in 10 years. Her feet looked swollen 3x normal size, as well as her calves. They went down before our very eyes and she walked that night.

I'm pretty much sold!

Blessings,
David

im sure a lot of people "faded" from christianity but then fell back in, for whatever reason. however i dont think you can ever call yourself a previous atheist, because if you truely believe in factual data i dont see anything that religion can lure you with.
