I was in the Navy 7 years and spent 1 day temporary duty on a sub with some shipmates for training and they gave us some certificates as part of the 1,000 ft ceremony. I threw it out years ago, and I can't remember what it was called.

Those were certificates handed out to the non submariners.

They are generated by the local command and can be called by different names.

They are not like Submarine Warfare(SS), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (SW), Bluenose (Arctic), or Shellback (Equator) which are Fleet-wide.

Don't know about any awards, we use to give out cards making you a submariner for a day, but that's all I can think of. And I don't really know how you would get one now. Each command does something different, some of the boats I was on we did nothing for riders.

Don't know of any award given for a dive deeper than 1000 ft. If there were, I'd have a couple of file drawers filled with them.
