I am really, really shy around the girls that I find attractive and because of that I feel that everything I say is stupid,dumb,or obvious in some way.

Of course bro...there are always stupid things to say to anyone!!!...Just keep talking to her, and if she not only responds to your chatter but asks you questions too, then chances are she is feeling you, or at least not repulsed and willing to chat!...if you are getting nothing or she looks at you like you are an idiot...try this...even if you do mess up and say something silly, have a good laugh with her about it (don't over do it) then pause, gather yourself and say something better or just thank her and walk away with your dignity...she will probably think you are sweet or cute just for being confident enough to realize that you said something awkward!!!...she may even appreciate the moment and who knows...go back later and try again!!... if all else fails you now have an embarrassing story to tell a future date!!...go for gold buddy...life is always more fun when you put yourself out there!!!

yes.. there're millions of dumb things to say.
speaking from past experience, girls don't like talkative guys who blablabla on the first date or when flirting.
just some subtle smile will do. and it won't hurt to give her "the look". you know, look at her from top to toe but not in an obvious way, smile a little, and nod in approval. some women say this is degrading and objectifying, but actually they like it.
and if you're really nervous and need to say something, just a simple "you look great" and "how come i never see you around here before" will be fine. more than that, you'll just be "that Sir Talk-a-Lot i met the other day.."
